He was nervous and said, “I mean, Eva.” She pondered and made her way to his table.

After the completion of his two classes, he immediately went back to the restaurant. He was anxious upon arrival and unprepared when Eva asked, “Dining alone?”
At the sound of her voice, he was startled as he looked up to confirm that it was indeed her. His jump made her nervous. Seeing their mutual reaction, they both laughed nervously.
Carlos said, “I’m sorry for that. You may not remember me…”
Eva interrupted, “I remember you” and paused. Carlos smiled in relief and they both stood in complete silence. Eva then chuckled and said, “So… are you eating alone or…?”
Carlos jolted back to reality and said, “Right! Yes. Yes. I’m eating alone.” She then smiled, picked up a menu and silverware set, and said, “This way.” As he followed her he said, “My name is Carlos.” She said, “Hi Carlos, I’m…” Carlos impulsively said, “Selena.” Hearing this name, she paused and looked suspiciously at him. He was nervous and said, “I mean, Eva.” She pondered and made her way to his table.
The restaurant was near empty, a blessing for this moment. She seated him in a corner booth and nervously asked, “I’m sorry, but how do you know Juan?” As he was about to answer, she said, “Wait, let me get your drink order.” He said, “Lemonade.” She replied, “I’ll be right back.”
As she went to get his beverage, Carlos began to prepare his story. He was considering how he might begin. Should he tell about the assignment? His professor? The coincidence of him meeting Juan?
As he considered these things, a large gentleman approached the table…
