When she walked in, the ladies greeted her with a smile, “Good morning, Deborah.”  She replied, “Good morning, sisters.  I see we have some new faces.  I want to welcome you to Widows Supporting Widows.”
With love and grace, she guided the attendees through a 45-minute journey of comfort in God’s Word.  She shared her story of how 11 years ago, she lost her best friend.  She told them how they lived and how they loved.  How Tasha was their first child, and they wanted a big family, but they waited because they “felt” they’d “have time.”

11 years ago, she lost her husband to a drunk driver.

“I was in pieces for a year; however, that pain was one of the best things that happened to me.  That pain brought me to God,” said Mrs. Cobb.  “God didn’t take my pain, ladies, but He did help me to endure.  And when He did, I knew I had to do something, to find service.  Someway to make it all matter.”

“Jerald only had one desire, a big family.  So I was sure to give him just that.  With my mother’s help, I adopted my two youngest children, Keylah and Shawn.  They were siblings; mother had overdosed, and they found them in the apartment all alone.  Agency said, “You can take the girl; however, we’d urge you to reconsider with the baby, the doctor has determined that he’s deaf.”

“Teach, Deborah!” said the older women.

“I told that agency, I’m gonna take em’ both.  My mother will help, we’ll be fine,” said Deborah.

“Because I’ve learned something ladies,” concluded Deborah, “that if God gives you the strength, anything is possible.”

The class erupted in applause and “Amen’s!”
