​Carlos slowly flipped over his paper and began reading the question.  However, to his shock, the sole question of the test was covering material that he had no recollection of.  Looking at the question, he could only conclude that this curriculum must have been taught on the sole day he missed.
He thought he was doomed.  He became, sad, angry, confused, and angry again.  He felt it unfair.  After all of his work, how could he still fail?  

In humility he stood, walked to the professor who was writing inside of a journal.  However, before Carlos could say a word the professor said, “How can I help you Carlos?”

Carlos whispered, “Sir, I don’t know the answer to the question. I’ve worked very hard in your class and I honestly feel it’s unfair to lose it all over one failed area. I’m not looking for a handout; however, I’m wondering if there is something else that could be done?”  


Carlos stood anxiously in the silent and very nerve racking pause of the professor. How the professor recognized him was still beyond his understanding. After all, he had not then and even hadn’t now looked up to see which of his students had approached his desk. 


After a while Carlos seemed even more discouraged. In anger, frustration, and despair he turned, ready to exit the classroom. However, at that moment, the professor then reached into his desk, pulled out a red envelope, handed it to Carlos, and said, “Have a seat outside.”


Carlos nervously took the enveloped.  He peered the class to see if anyone was watching.  When he noticed that no one was, he turned back to the professor and whispered, “What does this mean?”  


The professor said, “Unless you know the answer to the question, that envelope is your only option.”   Carlos stood frozen.  


​The professor then looked up at Carlos and mouthed…

It is difficult to follow (on faith) guidance not understood.
Faith is necessary when asking for help.
