What was left to know?
The professor said, “Juan was the deacon at my church who taught me the gospel and baptized me.” Carlos stood puzzled, unsure of what to think or say. However, in that moment it clicked.
As he was about to ask, the professor shouted, “Take your seats and open your books to Chapter 7.”
Snapping back into reality, Carlos went to his seat and began to prep for class. At the end of the class, the professor gave his closing remarks and everyone began to leave. However, Carlos intentionally waited for all the students to leave. When they were gone, he stated with great clarity, “You stopped him from jumping off the bridge.” The professor, surprised that he knew said, “I did.”
The professor then asked, “And I guess you’re the person who took him to eat at a very interesting restaurant?” They both smiled.
The professor paused and said, “I know this may be stepping over educational lines, but Juan is planning to rededicate his life to Christ tonight at our Wednesday Night Bible Class. I think it would mean the world to him, if you were there. After all, 65% of his restoration testimony is about you.”
Carlos pondered, he hadn’t really been a “church person” and he wasn’t completely bought into the idea of Jesus Christ. However, he wanted to see Juan win.
