"Fact: we as a society are slowly, but assuredly losing our God-given compassion. We are rarely ‘us.’ Rather, we see ‘them.’"
So, there’s an illustration that people often use. I’m pretty sure you’ve heard it before. It’s referred to as the “Boiling Frog Fable.” The story basically goes like this: a frog is placed in a pot of cool water. In time, the pot of water is eventually heated to boil. However, because the boiling process isn’t instant, and the frog is by nature able to adapt to very harsh climates, the boil is told to go unnoticed. And as a result, the frog is alleged to willingly remain in the water, and without knowing, eventually die amidst the boiling.

"This modern-attitude, this new realm of thinking sadly indicates that beauty must be graded, clothing must be designer, abs must be ripped, and you must be renowned." "I think as the world becomes caught up in a mist of all that it "thinks" is the business of God, we still somehow miss the bold and obvious." "I believe that there are some relationships in our lives not because they give us what we want. Rather, they teach us what we need." You name it, I tried it? Productivity apps, alarms, charts, spreadsheets, task accounts, books, deleting ‘distracting’ apps, shutting down my social media (yeah, that’s why I did it), working overnight, and a host of other aimless things. All in an attempt to fix a problem that I was too proud to admit and too ashamed to ask for help with. So, here’s the question: if I’m already challenged by my mandatory and very necessary truth, why in the world would I then seek additional and very unnecessary pain, by concerning myself with what EVERYBODY thinks of me? Success is essentially the fulfillment of a purpose or objective. In other words, if a thing does what it ought to do, then the thing is deemed successful. Therefore, if our chase for success is wrong, then our pursuit for purpose will be also. Understand that your palms are sweaty because you’re trying to figure out what you can say, to make everything better. News flash: you can’t. Well, some would say “don’t vote at all.” However, as I considered all of those whose blood was shed for me to have this electoral right, I don’t see how I could allow a weak ballot, to be my justification for not casting one. While the fans were joyous, a moment of empathy was in order. Consider this. A future Hall-of-Famer, poised with the best offensive line he’s ever stood behind, will now have to sit as a rookie would and watch the starter as a rookie should. |
