"This means, as I step into the New Year, if I plan to overcome the old barriers of productivity, I have to consider how I ruined my plans. And, after consideration, I must implement new measures to minimize these failings."
If you’re reading this, then you need to celebrate.
Not because you’re reading this, although if that’s celebratory for you, I won’t stop you.

Sure, there are Christians who avoid and despise gossip, but there’s a reason why the Bible addresses the topic.
Pookie infamously said, “it be callin' me, man... I just got to go to it!” (PSA: if you’re a reader of this blog and you don’t know who ‘Pookie’ is, don’t worry about it.) Now, when he made this statement, he was referring to crack cocaine. However, I believe that there are many that would make the same statement about something non-narcotic, but just as addictive.
“I’m trying hard, but I keep falling and after a while, I’m going to start feeling like my worship is worthless.”
Loosely based on a true story.
So, I was talking to a real good friend of mine, and he was sharing with me some of his struggles with sin. As he shared, I remembered being proud of him for his willingness to admit his error. I was honored that he entrusted me with his failings and I was in awe of his maturity and willingness of transparency. "They’re sore from yesterday’s workout, tired, sleepy, and ready to go to back to bed. However, they won’t, they refuse. They are chasing a dream, and the dream of tomorrow, demands the work of today." "Question: how bad do you want it? This answer is crucial because the response... will make or break your dream. If you have a goal and you only dedicate 2% of your life to it, it’s never going to come to pass." "Many have asked me, “Kevin, what’s the purpose of fasting?” Or, “exactly why are you fasting?” Or (my favorite), “what are we supposed to get out of it?” You name it, I tried it? Productivity apps, alarms, charts, spreadsheets, task accounts, books, deleting ‘distracting’ apps, shutting down my social media (yeah, that’s why I did it), working overnight, and a host of other aimless things. All in an attempt to fix a problem that I was too proud to admit and too ashamed to ask for help with. Understand that your palms are sweaty because you’re trying to figure out what you can say, to make everything better. News flash: you can’t. Well, some would say “don’t vote at all.” However, as I considered all of those whose blood was shed for me to have this electoral right, I don’t see how I could allow a weak ballot, to be my justification for not casting one. In that moment, I had to honestly ask myself, “Exactly, what is HONESTLY AND TRULY REALLY stopping me from continuing my study?” In other words, if I said, “no matter what, I’m going to keep on studying”, what force would actually stop me? |
